I just finished watching the press conference with the eight Nebraska lottery winners, all of whom have either quit, or are planning to quit, their jobs.
That made me stop and think. If I won the lottery tomorrow (I really had to stretch my imagination for that one!), would I still go forward with my business plan?
Yes, I would. And I would have the means to do it even more enthusiastically than in my current plan. I can't say the same thing about the last job that I held.
I guess that's the true measure of success, after you feed your family. Are you truly happy with what you are doing? If you had unlimited funds, what would you change? Think about those changes you would make, and see if they can be applied in some smaller scale to whatever you are doing right now.
You just might be surprised by the outcome!

Cathi,
I wholeheartedly agree -- a great reminder for us all to take stock of what we REALLY want. Who was it who made the comment about the waste of an unexamined life?
I was cleaning out a drawer over the weekend and came across some audiotapes of a book by Stephen Levine, called A Year to Live, How to Live This Year As If it Were Your Last. As soon as I find my old Walkman so I can play them :), I'm ready to listen to them again!
