One poster on this thread (in which you will also learn an amazing new use for breath strip containers) at the FlyerTalk travel forums asks,
"I'm a consumer, not an engineer. Why, why do I have to constantly learn the mechanics of every product in order to use it?"
Good question! It seems that many products these days come with a phone-book sized manual, and it is impossible to operate the product without reading it.
Take cell phones, for instance, since they are the topic of conversation here. I know that some people like all the fancy features, but why can't they make a phone that I can just take out of the box and use? I haven't found one yet that I can just dial a number and talk to someone without having to read the instructions.
A very good example of this is a DVD player. Every time I want to watch a movie, I have to ask my daughter to come in and get it started for me. I can't even figure out how to use the remote with out. And how many people have high noon flashing indefinitely on their VCR's?
I agree with that poster. Give me simple over flashy and complicated any day!
