Is it true that what goes around comes around?
As reported on RetailWire, Alloy Media + Marketing did a study of spending by college students, and found that 33 percent chose brands based on the company's social responsibility position.
And you can't argue that some brands have become successful by promoting themselves as good corporate citizens, while some companies have collapsed due to non-ethical behavior.
In a poll at RetailWire, which asked if the "laws of Karma" applied to companies, 59% of the respondents felt that companies would ultimately be paid back for both their good and bad deeds.
Commenting on this issue and the RetilWire poll, Peter Ingram of BlendedBusiness had this to say.
"Do what you do well, with ethics, morality and passion, be aware of your company and brands' impact on everything ranging from your industry's economics to your customers' behavior (economically and otherwise), and you have the makings of a company who is prepared to both adjust to near-/short-term and long-term business demands and drivers. "
On the other hand, an anonymous reader stated that
"Starbucks made the [Alloy Media] list and while it promotes all the hot button issues, its product is about as good for you as eating styrofoam.
In my own little world here, I was shown an example of company Karma just the other day. I'd been helping someone on-line, who I did not know at all, to get their website shopping cart software up and running. Over a period of a week or so, I patiently answered all of his questions and provided samples of code that I had used to improve my e-store.
As it turns out, this person has owned a retail store, very similar to mine and also located in Florida, for 5 years. He has now offered to mentor me in my retail business, and has already given me some helpful hints.
Coincidence? Or Karma?

It's karma! I don't believe in coincidences ;) I wrote something in relation to this:

Keep giving and it will come back to you!
