It's time for me to make another trip down south, to Mexico, and replenish my inventory. I've been having someone send me shipments, but now that I know my market and my customers better, I'd like to go down and choose the items myself. It's also time to buy some holiday items!
I feel that I can make much more educated decisions about what to buy, and at which price points, than I did when I was buying my start-up inventory. I know more about what sells and what doesn't in this market. I've learned which extras my customers will pay for, and which they could care less about.
I'm more familiar with the customs and import process, so I'm not as nervous about that as I was last time.
I'm leaving tomorrow, Sept. 10th, for Oaxaca. Which is another whole story. It's pretty much a political hotbed there right now, so I hear that getting around is a bear, but it can be done. Just so long as I'm not in a hurry to get anywhere...
Which reminds me of one of the funniest sayings I've heard about Oaxaca, though I don't know who to credit it to. I had seen it used in someone's signature on a message board. Mañana in Oaxaca has the same meaning as it does in the rest of Mexico, but without the same sense of urgency.
I'll let you know how I find things in Oaxaca. I'll blog from there, just as I did last time, so keep checking in.
