I am very pleased to report that my upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 went very smoothly, perhaps the easiest Microsoft upgrade I've ever installed. So the words Microsoft and smooth can no longer be called complete oxymorons.
The only complaint I have is that the browser occasionally freezes up and I have to close that tab and reopen the web site I was attempting to navigate. Hopefully that issue will be worked out soon by Microsoft.
Two things I just absolutely love about IE7 are:
-
Tabbed browsing - I've always liked using tabbed browsing. It just seems easier having everything in one window. And when it's time to sign off, I just close the window and it closes all the tabs. No more closing each one seperately.
-
Favicons - IE7 supports favicons, the tiny icons that replace
the standard Internet Explorer icon in the address bar, on the tabs, and in the favorites list. Either more sites are using favicons now with the advent of IE7, or I just never noticed them because IE6 doesn't support them (unless the site is in your favorites list, and even then it's unreliable). Favicons make it easier for me to pick out the site I'm looking for in my favorites list, plus I just think they're cute. And as a site owner, I believe it makes my site more memorable to visitors.
Speaking of my site, it still looks good and all the functions work in the new IE7, without needing any tweaking. WHEW!

I am having a problem with !E7. It freezes, and when I look at the Task Manager, the status is not running. When you select End Task from the Task Manager, instead of stopping the task, it pops another message box that says that you can either try to restart it or wait, neither of which is what I want to do, I want to kill the process.
