Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, seeing his career for boxing and any other worthwhile endeavor dry-up here in the United States, is hoping to revive his personal "brand name" with a move overseas...to India!
Tanya Palta from KMM's "Our Bollywood" had the interesting post over the weekend, and it prompted a couple of thoughts about what he's doing, and what the lessons are for entrepreneurs who are looking to revive their business in a new market.
First, sometimes you need to take your business model into a completely different market. A place where there is no history, no ill will, no sordid past. The people in India obviously know about Mike Tyson's fall from grace here in the U.S., but not to the level that we here in America do. His mistakes have given him name recognition, which a Bollywood producer is now going to try and capitalize on.
Second, everyone everywhere loves a comeback story. As much as we are intrigued by the fall from grace, we humans are instantly drawn to that same person trying to make it back from the depths as is the case with Mike Tyson.
Is your business venture "on the ropes"? Try moving to a completely different market, and sell yourself as the comeback kid.
