Aflac is stepping up their promotion and advertising for their supplemental insurance coverage for small businesses.
Aflac started as a service for large corporations and medium sized companies that
allowed their employees to sign-up for supplemental insurance benefits through payroll deduction. Now, that same benefit is being promoted to smaller or new businesses.
Supplemental insurance covers things your regular health insurance doesn't: Out of pocket lab costs, disability, cancer treatment...whatever you would normally pay for personally, Aflac steps in and reimburses you for those expenses.
They have set up a website especially for this new program for small businesses at www.aflacsb.com.
On a personal note, a former colleague of mine signed-up for Aflac through her employer a few years ago. About two months later, she was diagnosed with cancer. Because of the insurance through Aflac, she received a check for $50,000 to spend as she wished: Medical treatment, experimental medications, a cruise...whatever. She is fine now, but that money came in handy as she had to miss work for about a month during her treatments and helped to pay for things not covered by her insurance.
If you're a small business owner, it's worth investigating. Usually, the premiums are fairly reasonable.
