
Remember the "outsourcing" trend that was popularized in business back in the late 1990's and earlier this decade because of the huge savings for corporations?
Well, according to Fortune magazine, there's a reverse trend that's developing: Insourcing.
Here are the details...
"Outsourcing - where American companies move operations to countries such as India or China to cut costs - is a controversial practice that's been a hot topic for the past several years. But its opponents might like "insourcing," a new trend that has overseas companies opening offices in the U.S. and hiring locals - most notably to staff customer service call centers.
Why are these jobs coming back? The companies hope to make U.S. customers feel more comfortable by curbing the language and cultural gaps many feel when dealing with foreign customer service reps."
Now, if we could just get giant corporations (that means you, AT&T) to ditch the automated menu greetings that take ten minutes just to get to a human you could talk to...
