Kimberlee chimes in on my recent post about Michael Vick, his plea bargain, and how I think he will come out of all of it more popular than ever once his sentence has been served:
"Dan, I agree. Our society does tend to glorify negativity in general and bad behavior specifically. It easier to become infamous than it is to become famous for doing something positive."
Let me add one other thought: Our society loves to see people fall, but they also love to see them come back from their adversity.
You've seen it in the life of Martha Stewart, Bill Clinton, Kobe Bryant...and I will predict that you will see it in the life of Michael Vick. If he plays this right, says the right things, does the right things, and behaves for the next year or so, he will be hailed as "reformed" and be more popular than ever.
He's not just a football player, remember. He's a businessman. He makes more money in marketing himself and his name than he does playing for the Atlanta Falcons. At this point, doing the right thing during his punishment will play a big part in how his business empire survives this crisis.
